It's been a while since I did a Booking Through Thursday meme.
My shelf...circa 2007. |
So … the books that you own (however many there may be) … do you display them proudly right there in plain sight for all the world to see? (At least the world that comes into your living room.) Or do you keep them tucked away in your office or bedroom or library or closet or someplace less “public?”
As much as I'd like to display my books in plain sight, we don't have any of those nifty bookshelves. Nonetheless, I prefer my books neatly stashed away in the bookshelf in my room, preferably padlocked. My brothers have this nasty habit of going through my stuff without permission. They sometimes they tend to pluck my books out of order, or worse, dump them in their own dirty shelves to be forgotten. The nastiest thing one of my brothers did was to grab a David Eddings book from my shelf (all my Eddings series are arranged chronologically, btw) and denied that he even took it. When I went snooping around his stuff, I found the missing book underneath a pile of dirt in their cabinet. I was on the verge of severing our sibling ties right then and there.
I may not be a neat freak in most of my things, but when it comes to my books, I'm a real freak. I should say that my book collection is probably the first thing I'll save if our house is on fire.
Lol I used to go crazy when my sister would come home for a visit and take a giant stack of my books with her when she left. She now waits to take them until I am there to give her permission.
ReplyDeleteSally.

lol, that made me laugh. My family are actually scared to borrow my books. I don't mind loaning them out and I know my friends and family will take care of them. Still, they make fun of me for it and threaten to wrap the books in bubble wrap whilst they have them.
ReplyDeleteOh, I would totally freak out if someone messed with my books! So it's probably good that I live alone...LOL
ReplyDeleteHowever, it hasn't always been like this, and the worst time was when the kids were teens.
Nowadays the grown kids come and borrow my movies (I have floor to ceiling DVD shelves in my hallway), and sometimes they forget to return them!
Here's MY BTT POST
I like to show mine off. Check out my response for this week's Booking Through Thursday.
ReplyDeleteGreat answer and great volume of books you have there.
ReplyDeleteStop and see mine and my giveaways.
@Sally: Your sister apparently likes to shop for books from your collection. :)
ReplyDelete@Karen: LOL @ the bubble wrap. But then again, that ain't a bad idea for protecting your books from people who dunno how to take care of them. Haha!
@Laurel: DVDs are probably the hardest to keep track of when people borrow them. You have to take a pic of your DVD case! I'd love to see what a floor to ceiling shelf of it looks like. :D
@Lori: Awesome book display you've got. I love it!
@Tribute Books Mama: Thanks for the visit!
Nobody touches my bookshelf as well hehe.
ReplyDeleteako naman i dont have books, i have artbooks, mangas and harry potter books that i show them proudly in my room! im just like you, im a real freak when it comes to my artbooks, pero i get happy when someone likes to take a look at them, kasi wala lang naman nag appreciate dun except ako lang hehe
ReplyDeletebtw, i have a website now, its sushiovadose.wordpress.com, i linked you too!
Hi Jen! Mahal ang mga artbooks kaya dapat lang na ingatan hahaaha! Kahit ako hirap magpahiram ng libro kahit sa mismong kaibigan. Kakaiba kasi ang pag-aalaga ko sa sarili kong mga libro & I can't expect people to care for them the same way I do, kaya kadalasan hindi ako nagpapahiram. Hehe. Oi thanks for linking ha. Imma link you back too. :)
ReplyDeleteKim, wala bang pic yang bookshelf mo? Hehehe. ;)

ReplyDeleteI don't have a picture of my bookshelf. Now that you've mentioned it, I prolly should take a picture of it.
